You Know You're with a Reputable Moving Company When ...

Go online or look through the yellow pages and you will find hundreds of moving companies saying that they are the best. Who do you believe? What is the criteria? You might want to start your search for the best moving company by asking friends or fellow employees for recommendations: This generally supplies you with a good reference. However, if you aren't able to get a recommendation, you need to know what the signs of a reputable and reliable company are.

Important Pointers when Contracting with a Mover
There are many pieces of pertinent information that accounts for a reputable moving company. In no particular order we offer this list so that you can have an indication of which companies look to be reputable and sincere.

• I is easy to research their company name online.
• All phone numbers are working and answered by operators, not an answering machine.
• Customer service is able to answer most of your questions and doesn't brush anything aside.
• If they don't have answers for some of your questions, they have someone get back to you in a short period of time.
• They are definitely registered with the Department of Transportation (DOT) and possibly with American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA).
• They do not take offense at any of the questions you ask them, including how they settle disputes should one arise.
• They offer customer references that supply you with the name and telephone number of the client. The references are local and recent.
• They are insured and are able to provide proof through a form from their insurance company sent directly from Acord (this is a verification system that indicates that the company is current with their insurance payments and policy and have liability coverage). This is not insurance for your household goods. A reputable moving company tells you this up front.
• When the moving truck arrives the name and registration number on the truck match up with the company name and DOT number that was given to you on the telephone.

Even if you hire them over the phone, give them your credit card information and have a tentative date, you can cancel if these important criteria are not met and you have reason to believe that these movers are less than reputable.
