When you know you are moving, you get more and more overwhelmed every time you open a closet or a garage door and witness the amount of “stuff” you own. One of the main procedures we recommend before moving is clearing out your inventory of household belongings. Organize your items into what can be thrown out and what can be treasured by others.
Not sure what goods are acceptable donations? Besides clothing, our team has a list of items charities and other organizations will deeply appreciate. We gladly provide a bounty of helpful information to aid you during your moving endeavor. All we ask in return are for your positive Nationwide Relocation Services reviews.
Feel free to donate the following items if they are in a sturdy or like-new condition:
Electronics
Many organizations will gladly accept your unwanted computers and electronic devices, whether they are in working condition or not. Donating them is better than throwing them out since they will be used to improve someone's life.
Kitchen utensils
Got any new or like new gadgets or necessary items in your kitchen? Clean them and set them aside to donate. Sterilize knives and other eating utensils, can openers, pots and pans in hot water and a cleaning solution. Cooking boards are not suggested since bacteria can grow inside of the cuts on the surface. Coffeemakers, toasters and microwaves should also be thoroughly cleaned.
Trucks, Cars, Boats and RVs
Make a tax deductible contribution to a charity to clear your hands of a vehicle or recreational sporting equipment. Many people do not want to run into any problems during their moving endeavor and cars, trucks and trailers can do just that. Find a recipient and transfer the car on your own to help them out in more ways than one.
Books
Books can literally weigh you down. Instead of letting them sit there in your new home, donate your best pieces. Please just toss out books with mold, water damage and other stains, ripped pages or in any other unsound state. You can donate to libraries, prisons, schools and many more charitable non-profit organizations.
Rags and Cloth
These are the only objects that don't need to be in excellent condition. Rags, towels, extra cloth and unwanted clothing are welcomed by animal shelters who will utilize them for clean up and padding. Before you donate spare cloth, inspect each piece to make sure it is free of mold or mildew. Everything else is acceptable.
Nationwide Relocation Services hopes these tips helped you. Remember to avoid scammers and ripoff movers by researching the moving companies you are interested in. May your moving endeavor run smoothly and we appreciate your patronage.
