Nothing is more aggravating than when someone tries to tell you what to do. More times than none it is a self-proclaimed expert that has been a complete failure in the past, but now seems to know it all. Truth be told, life is a lesson. No one person knows everything about everything. Even if they did, people should be able to make their own mistakes. Otherwise, how else would they learn and not let the same mistakes happen again?
Be Careful What You Ask For
People tend to think just because they are a friend or a family member that it is okay to extend their opinions. When sharing personal information, like the fact that you are moving soon, you are allowing them to see a side of you that they may not have otherwise seen. However, you are also opening up a door for unwanted advice, criticism and gossip. Is this something that you are ready for and prepared to handle as you get your relocation plans underway? Keeping your personal experiences private is highly recommended. If you wanted the whole world to know you would have broadcast it on the news. Be selective of the things that you share. You don't want it to come back and bite you later on. This is especially true if you're not ready to share the fact that you're moving with your boss.
You Told Me You Could Keep a Secret
Growing up, you have that one person who you feel that you can tell everything and anything. Your deepest darkest secrets are no longer your own. You considered this person your “B.F.F.” and now it seems that everyone and their brothers now know what you did under the bleachers back in high school. Children are innocent and don't think about the repercussions of “spilling the beans.” As adults, it seems as if some people live for gossip and can't wait to see what happens next. If we all just minded our own business life would be less complicated.
Be More Selective When Calling Someone a Friend
Just because you work together, can make each other laugh and have a few things in common, that does not make this person your friend. Unfortunately, there are people that have a way of convincing you that they are a someone that you can tell anything to. The next day at lunch everyone is staring and whispering and you wonder why. It is because in this day in age you can trust very few. It may be hard to keep some things to yourself, especially something as big as moving plans. Think of how uncomfortable it would be to walk around an office where everyone knows what's going on in your personal life.
